 Mystic, CT

The village of Mystic is part of Stonington township and was settled in 1649 by colonists from Plymouth.  It is quite charming with many quaint shops and places to stay.

Mystic Aquarium - Located along Highway 95 this recently expanded aquarium is surrounded by shops and restaurants.  For sea food try the Go Fish Restaurant next to the aquarium.  The food is good and there's a separate Sushi bar with it's own menu. See photos of penguins and sea lions at Mystic Aquarium.

Mystic Seaport - This museum contains a whaling town, actual whaling ships, and a great maritime bookstore and gift shop with unusual gifts and  original artwork for sale.  See photos of the Aquarium and the old Seaport Village at the cjphotos website.

Downtown Mystic - Lots of small specialty shops located by the river.  I was just there with a friend from Belgium who bought an authentic Russian submarine clock at the Army and Navy store.  There's an art festival here in mid August.
